Welcome to Hyndburn District Explorer Unit!!

The Explorer section is the result of changes in 2001 to the structure of Scouting. This is the next section to the Scout section, providing activities for young people aged 14-18. The Unit is District-based, rather than Group-based, meaning that this Unit includes young people from everywhere in Hyndburn.

Meetings are on Tuesday Evenings at All Saints Scout Hut, although many of our activities are away from the meeting place. The Unit is run by its members, for its members.

Adventure!
Duke of Edinburgh Scheme!

Many of the activities we do are aimed towards achieving the Duke of Edinburgh's Award. This means lots of expedition training, becoming proficient at a skill, taking part in lots of physical activity, and volunteering our services to the local community.

We go camping a lot! We get invited to any camps that Hyndburn District run, we go on expeditions, and we also enjoy nice lazy weekends at Bowley, Waddow or Waddecar. There are also loads of competitions that we can enter.

Many of our members are also Young Leaders in Beaver Colonies, Cub Packs and Scout Troops around the District. They enjoy themselves immensely while lending a hand to the Adult Leaders, and honing their leadership skills. If you are wondering whether leadership is for you, or if you'd simply like to have a great time while helping younger members of the Organisation, then this is for you.
